JACKSON COUNTY
Before me W. R. GROSS a Notary Public in and for said Said2 STATE AND COUNTY personally appeared PETER COOPER who being by me duly sworn desposes and in support of his claim befor THE COMMISSION OF THE COURT OF CLAIMS APPLICATION NO 19589 AS FOLLOWS:
Father and Grandfather I think my father died 1845 or 1846 Grandfather died in the Mexican War He served until the surrender and was on his way home he taken sick and died don't remember at what place I and I claim through Isaac Cooper (Grandfather) He resided in Dekalb Co Ala in 19353 I cant tell why he was not enroled he was dead in 1851 I don't know whether he was a party to the treaty or not of 1835-6 in 1846 I think he was in the war I pass as white and none of my ancestor was ever held as slaves as I know of by the Indians My grandmother Jane Cooper always said the the Indian Chief Fox always claimed to be akind to Grandfather Isaac Cooper It has been claimed by the old people that we had Cheroke blood and especially by one Dick or Richard Keyse who claimed to be 1/2 Indian
