Note: The preceding essay, which presents a comparison of two war poems, was written by D.K. Pritchett as an exercise in response to a Praxis II study guide in the field of English. The study guide was a public document made available for persons planning to take Georgia's Praxis II subject test, "English Language, Literature, and Composition: Essays." Southern Muse's essay is not intended as a preparation for or reply to any actual Praxis test question. It has never been graded or judged as to its suitability to answer such a question. For more information on Praxis tests and teaching in Georgia, go to TeachGeorgia website. The Praxis II subject-test-study guide was accessed by D.K. Pritchett (of Southern Muse) on 8 January 2002. The actual exam contained an essay category. This is not the same essay that appeared in the actual exam, but Pritchett's response to an essay question on the actual Praxis exam was similar in complexity to the essay that appears here. Pritchett's essay on the actual Praxis exam was on a different subject and garnered an excellent score for the essay section.
