Cove Creek and Waldens Creek, Tennessee View Larger Map Back to HEADRICK Directory Map: Wears Valley, Tuckaleechee Cove & more This is an attempt to identify approximate locations of various historical land plats in Sevier County, Tennessee. The goal, generally, is locate place names that have been mentioned in various deeds, census, or other research documents in the Headrick and Emert genealogy. This particular map is of a place in Wears Cove. I am not sure where old William Headrick's land would have been in relation to this map. Aaron Crowson's land would have been northeast of the Cove Creek Cascades, according to the Crowson Plat Project. Fredrick Emert's land would have been further east. A neighbor whose land abutted Fredrick Emert's land was described as being located on the east fork of the Little Pigeon River (which would be in or near modern-day Pigeon Forge). These are very rough estimates, but it might be helpful in locating Cove Creek, Waldens Creek, Wears Cove, Wears Valley, Tuckaleechee Cove other historical locations in Blount and Sevier County, Tennessee. Crowson's Creek Plat Project shows Noah Haggard's land to be in Wear's Valley at a bend in the creek of Walden's Creek/Cove Creek. He shows the creek as the same creek, and shows Noah's land to be bounded on the west by Cove Creek, and Jacob McGhee's land to be bounded on the east by Walden's Creek. The boundary line he has drawn is common for the two creeks--that is, it seems to be the same creek. I'm not sure this is the location, but a modern day Google map shows a similar bend at Walden Creek on Wears Valley Rd (west of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee). Below that, on Wears Valley Road (U.S. Highway 321/ Tennessee state highway 73) is Cove Creek Cascades. To get your bearings here, I've estimated the Sevier/Blount County boundary line to run from near Seymour, Tennessee, in a line south (bearing slightly SE) down to Wears Valley (east of Townsend), then turn sharp toward the South, running due south to the North Carolina state line (the southern boundary of Tennessee); with Blount County being on the western side and Sevier County being on the eastern side of the boundary line that runs between those two counties. Other bits of information: Headrick's Hereford Farm is described as being 11 miles west of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. However, that farm wasn't established until 1893, by Daniel E. Headrick, who was married to Josephine Caylor, according to the web
