Each flooring outlet has its specialty. Every type, grade and price range of flooring is represented: carpet, hard flooring, first quality, seconds, remnants. Most outlets carry a multitude of brand-name flooring, but many carry other home furnishings as well, from wallpaper to furniture, light fixtures, and decorative accessories. Cabinet makers are represented, too. Southern Muse won't go into each specialty, but you can check out their home pages. Most are located on N. Dug Gap Road SW (off I-75, exit 328, Connector 3) in Dalton, Georgia, so browsing the stores in person is easy!

Owen Carpet Company.. Specializes in warehouse close-outs and wholesale direct, featuring products from a variety of Georgia carpet manufacturers (Shaw, Mohawk, Beaulieu, Milliken, and others). Beckler's Carpet Outlet, Inc.. (Includes Beckler's Heritage Rug Gallery). Family-owned, well-respected and established. One of Dalton's original carpet mills (and now retail). Has been in business for almost 60 years! One of the first outlets you'll see at Connector Three, attractive facility and very nice, knowledgable people. Location: 3051 Dug Gap Rd., Dalton, GA. Possibly the biggest, and features an annual Designer's Dream Home. (My day trip to Carpets of Dalton.).

Long's Discount Outlet
Family owned, has been in business for over 30 years. On-line price quotes. Located at 2626 South Dixie Highway, Dalton, GA 30720. (South Dixie Highway is just a segment of Highway 41, South of Walnut Avenue in Dalton; web searches show it as South Dixie Road). It is on the section of Highway 41 that runs between Walnut Avenue and the South Dalton Bypass.

Myer's Carpet (MyersCarpet.com)
Has been in business 50 years. Oldest retail store. "Considerable discounts." New 10,000 square-foot showroom, 35,000-foot warehouse, open to public. Location: 3096 Dug Gap Road.

Georgia Carpet Ind. Wholesale Direct carpet. Carpet manufacturers, open to the public. Large showroom. Two Locations: 3050 North Dug Gap Road and 3352 Lower Dug Gap Road

Peanut's Carpet House.
This is a no-frills carpet house that prides itself on discount prices. They have been in business for as long as I can remember. The building was recently renovated and they are open to the public. Peanut's is not on Connector 3. They are located on Chatsworth Highway (I-75 Exit 333, stay on Walnut Avenue, travelling east, and it becomes Chatsworth Highway. Just outside of Dalton city limits, you'll see Peanut's on the right. Location: 3358 Chatsworth Hwy., Dalton, Ga. 30721.

Carpet Barn, Inc. (dba Dennard Carpet)

Wood Hollow Cabinets. Fine quality cabinetry since 1989. I-75 to exit 328 (Conn. 3). From Connector 3, turn SOUTH/SW onto Dug Gap Road SW (instead of north toward all the other outlets). You'll find one of Georgia Carpet Ind.'s warehouses near here, too.
