Carpets of Dalton (WEBSITE) Designer Dream Home... Yep, it really is a whole house inside of a store! I went to Carpets of Dalton specifically to see the famous "house-inside-of-a-store" I'd heard so much about. The Designer Dream Home is inside of the Carpets of Dalton building. It's a real brick house, built to Southern Living's "Whitfield" floor plan (named for Whitfield County). The house inside of Carpets of Dalton is fully furnished! In fact, it is completely redecorated annually, by the Carpets of Dalton design team. Even local residents like to go see it every year. NOTE: If visiting Carpets of Dalton is a one-time event for you, call ahead and make sure to avoid the annual ten-day closing when their designers are redecorating! I only gave Carpets of Dalton the most superficial onceover, only strolling through the main building on the Carpets of Dalton campus. Even that took 30-45 minutes. We glanced at a few of the thousand or so carpet samples in that ONE room. I could see a glimpse of the warehouse, and rolls of carpet, through a window. I asked where I could find the "house". The staff directed me to the back, far corner of the building, smiling. (I suspect that I was not the first sightseer to come looking for the house). I walked through several showrooms on my way to the house, each one carpeted and packed with furniture, pictures, quilt-covered beds, vases, and wall decor. I found the Designer Dream Home, a high-gabled brick house in a dark corner of the warehouse. A landscaped brick walk led up to the door. I walked in and toured the beautifully decorated home, starting with a large, contemporary kitchen and working my way through each bedroom, bath, and sitting room. It even had a back porch, complete with patio furniture. Photos of the Dream Home can be found on the Carpets of Dalton home page. After I left the Dream Home, I still had a couple more showrooms on the other side of the warehouse. I didn't have time for a full tour, but did pause to ogle some rugs and kitchen tile. Carpets of Dalton has several other buildings that I didn't even get to tour that day! Visit the Carpets of Dalton website...
