Schedule & Event Update

Spring Place Community Festival (Chatsworth, Georgia): Annual event update. Held at the old Methodist Church in Spring Place, a community just west of Chatsworth, Georgia in Murray County, Georgia. The historic church building is located just south of the Chief Vann House in Spring Place community. This old-fashioned country country festival is great fun for the whole family. Typically, it features an auction, with donated goods. You can buy tasty homemade treats ~ home-canned jams and jellies, cakes and pies. Indoors, there's a country store" and "book store" (used books and historical society publications). Search for great bargains in antiques and collectibles at the indoor rummage sale. Read about the treasures I once found there! Grab a ticket for the raffle. Raffle items are usually handmade crafts, such as quilts or rocking chairs.

This event commemorates Spring Place's heritage and raises funds for the continued preservation of the Old Spring Place Methodist Church. The historic church, built in 1875, is the oldest structure designed for public use still standing in Murray County. For more than twenty years, the building has housed a museum and served as a meeting place for various community groups. Proceeds from the festival are used toward the preservation and maintenance of the old Spring Place Methodist Church building and grounds. The historic structure now houses a small museum. The festival is sponsored by Spring Place Ruritan Club and Whitfield-Murray Historical Society, a local not-for-profit organization, which helps to preserve historic properties and documents in Murray and Whitfield counties in North Georgia.
