Paintings by D.K. Pritchett

MEDIA

I've worked in various media: collage, pencil, conte crayon, printmaking, and pottery; but, I'm primarily a painter. The most significant change in my methods came when I switched from oils to acrylics around 1990. Acrylics are more conducive to quick, spontaneous painting sessions. They dry quickly, which encourages decisiveness and they can be over-painted many times, with little drying time between layers. This allows me to work directly on canvas, making dramatic changes as I go. Since 1992, I've had three solo shows of acrylic paintings.

This is a sample of my artwork over a period of several years. I hope to add more as I update my site. Some of my paintings, graphic art, illustrations, and murals are also on my blog, The Talking Artist.
